Neotoma Database and Education
Neotoma offers greatly expanded opportunities for educators and students to experience an integrated, multidisciplinary scientific database through hands-on exploration of real scientific data.The objectives of the Neotoma Database outreach effort are:
- Introduce faculty and students to the value and use of databases for the exploration of larger scientific problems.
- Place the information in the Neotoma database into contexts larger than the individual constituent databases—ecosystem function and global climate change.
- Develop in students the understanding that paleontology provides critical information about the changing states of biological systems during a very dynamic time in Earth’s history.
