Check out the new Hierarchical Taxonomy Viewer

The Neotoma IT Development Team is excited to announce the official release of the Neotoma Hierarchical Taxonomy Viewer (HTV)! This interactive visualization tool, designed by Yanbing Chen and Jonathan Nelson, makes it easier to explore the taxonomic vocabulary that connects Neotoma’s paleoecological records. Users can navigate from broad groups to individual taxa, search by taxon name or ID, compare taxa, and inspect taxonomic paths, synonyms, metadata, and links to external resources.

Designed for researchers, data stewards, and the broader Neotoma community, HTV includes dedicated Explorer and Data Steward views for understanding taxonomic relationships and identifying records that may require review. This launch is an important step toward making Neotoma’s taxonomy more accessible, accurate, and easier to curate.
