IT Support

If you need Neotoma-related IT support (e.g. to report software issues, request DOIs, or Stewarding support related to data uploads and curation), there are two primary ways of getting help:

  1. Email neotoma-support@googlegroups.com. This is monitored by the full IT team, and Nick Hoffman (associate developer) will take lead in responding to and delegating help for queries.
  2. Post on Slack. The Slack workspace for Neotoma has various channels available for different topics, and you can choose the channel/topic that seems most appropriate. For most channels, Nick will again take the lead on responding. To make sure that he sees your Slack post, please tag Nick.

Two kinds of help requests can be sent directly to Socorro Dominguez (IT lead developer) (e.g. by tagging her in Slack): 1) requests to mint DOIs (#it_dois) and 2) requests by stewards to delete datasets with mistakes created during upload (#db_dataissues).

We’ll try to provide a first response to all emails/posts within two business days. For issues that can’t be resolved quickly, we’ll aim to provide a second followup within a week, i.e. after the team has had a chance to talk through the issue and how to triage it.

At present, the Neotoma IT team and related support roles include:

  • Socorro Dominguez (Lead Developer, Data Architect, APIs, DataBUS, R package)
  • Nick Hoffman (Steward support, DataBUS, R package)
  • Brian Grivna (Tilia development)
  • Nicola Cullen (Tilia expert, trainer, and tester)
  • Jonathan Nelson (Explorer, Taxonomic Manager, and User Interface Design)
  • Jessica Blois (Science advisor & Exec Comm Associate Chair)
  • Jack Williams (Science advisor & Exec Comm Chair)

In addition, we’re working with the EPD to establish more in-house support expertise there, more to follow soon.

All of us can be reached via the Neotoma Slack workspace as well as email:
