Opportunity: Apply to be Neotoma's Social Media Manager

Hello Neotoma community members!

The social media landscape is changing, and Neotoma is looking to rethink the way that it interacts with scientists and the general public. We need your help.

Are you an early career researcher (grad student or postdoc) who is a savvy user of social media? Would you like a leadership role in the Neotoma Paleoecology Database? If so, you may be interested in applying to be Neotoma’s social media manager.

Responsibilities:

The role of social media manager is a new position at Neotoma. As social media manager, you will serve on Neotoma’s Outreach and Engagement committee and attend Leadership Council meetings. You will design and implement a strategy for publicizing Neotoma teaching and research to the larger science community and public.

If you are interested in this position, please reach out to Nick Hoffman (hoffmanick@gmail.com) and Sarah Ivory (sji15@psu.edu) by February 28th, 2026, with a brief explanation of why you are interested in the position (<500 words) as well as a brief proposal (<1000 words), outlining a strategy of how you would use social media to spread the word about Neotoma, and for what purposes. Example: which platforms, how often, what topics, what formats, and other engagement strategies.
