Updated bylaws and data policy
We are pleased to announce the release of updated bylaws and data policy for the Neotoma Paleoecology Database. These changes are prompted by Neotoma's participation in the Ethical Open Science for Past Global Change Data Research Coordination Network. The updated policies elaborate Neotoma's approach to protecting the right of first publication for research teams, encouraging best practices for scientific workflows, protecting sites in danger of destruction, and protecting the authority of Indigenous peoples to govern access to their data. These changes were first drafted and reviewed by Neotoma's leadership team and were then released to the community for an open-comment period. The documents were revised based on community feedback, and they have now been approved by the Leadership Council and are in effect.
